~ all things in balance ~

Logo

The logo represents one of the fundamental principles of good health - Balance
It is about the avoidance of extremes (e.g., all-or-nothing, black-or-white, etc.).  If you think about it, if we attempt to achieve and maintain a balance in the important areas of our life such as our thoughts, our emotions, our bodies, our spiritual life and our relationships, we are more likely to be content and experience less psychological and other distress.  Lifestyle balance is a key component of my psychotherapy.

The Meaning
The logo is centred around the ancient yin-yang symbol which represents the complementarity of opposites contained within a wholistic perspective of the world.  To counterbalance this Asian (Eastern) tradition, the Greek (Western) symbol for Theta is stylistically super-imposed on the logo.  This more linear intellectual tradition is symbolized by the horizontal bar interconnecting the two spheres, and the colour gradation from light to dark represents that life is often better perceived along a continuum rather than in a "black or white" manner.  This light-to-dark gradient also extends around the circumference of the logo.  This replicates the bar, but in a circular fashion.  However, in the colour version of the logo, it further symbolizes the development/growth process.  The metaphor is of a plant which begins white as a seedling (the inside) which is full of potential... then as it grows it turns yellow a time when it is pliable and susceptible to influence... then green when it is most vibrant and productive... it then turns orange as it ages and is in the twilight of it's life... then brown as the leaf falls from the tree... and then finally black as it returns to the earth which in turn nourishes another white seedling.
